Our main objective here at the National Coach Academy is to enable aspiring coaches to reach their full professional potential. One of the most effective ways to educate students about the world of coaching is by offering them a window into the world of real, practicing coaches and showing them all the different ways coaches make a difference in the lives of their clients.

We hope today’s interview adds another insightful glimpse into the dynamic world of coaching.

Today we are interviewing Gabrielle Orr. Gabrielle is a certified Akashic Record Teacher and Consultant, Healing Touch Practitioner, Reiki Master, Body Talk Practitioner, EFT Practitioner, Massage Therapist, and Feng Shui Consultant.

NCA: Can you describe your practice and the kinds of clients you typically work with?

Gabrielle: I often work with people who have already tried everything else and can’t seem to find real help. They kind of run in a circle and keep on chasing their own tail. They’re ready to try something that is not conventional and turn their life around through with help of the Akashic Records.

I offer online classes which teach the participants to access the Akashic Records for themselves and others as well. I’m not someone who’s trying to get people’s interest by showing them their wounds or to give them the impression that I can safe them. I’d rather show them how they can address their own wounds, so they can take care of themselves. “Teach someone how to fish rather than give them a fish for one day.”, as the philosophy goes.

The whole process takes place in online seminars that are eight weeks long. Within that seminar, people learn how to access their own Akashic Records and also how to access the Akashic Records for someone else. This is not only to give readings to others but when we work with someone else, we are also looking into a mirror. We are being presented with, “Wow, whatever this person goes through, on some level I’m experiencing it too.” It can be very healing for yourself to give a reading to someone else.

NCA: In working with your clients, what would you say is the most rewarding part of that process and on the flip side of that, what is the most challenging aspect of the work that you do?

Gabrielle: The most rewarding thing is when all of a sudden they realize, “Wow, this is about me,” and to understand that “I’m loved, unconditionally loved.” And that all the other stuff is just noise in the background. I know it sounds very flowery and purple and new agey, but that’s really the most rewarding part. When people all of a sudden realize, “Oh my God, I can finally feel the love and I can really see that there is more to life than what I can perceive through my six senses.”

I don’t think there’s a flip side for me. When I am teaching, I’m connected to the Akashic Records. Whatever you describe as a challenge, I’m just letting my Masters and Teachers of the Akashic Records answer and it turns into a blessing. I don’t feel that there are challenges. I’m not afraid of challenges or anything like that because it always turns into a blessing.

It’s about trust. As a teacher, as a coach, you also have to trust in what you’re doing. I think you don’t really run into challenges.

You’re just a channel. I am the connecting link between the client and the Akashic Records. You are that connecting link and you have to direct your energy upwards to the Akashic Record and to the energy of the client and recognize that you are not the most important part in this conversation.

NCA: Many new coaches face self-doubt in the beginning stages of their careers. Some coaches call it Imposter Syndrome, where early on they feel somehow inadequate to take on the role of coach. What is one piece of advice that you would give to somebody who is in the beginning stage of their coaching career and dealing with these doubts in their mind?

Gabrielle: I cannot speak for other coaching modalities. I can only speak to what advice I would give to people who take my seminar because there are different coaching modalities.

I would tell them that I felt the same way. I asked the masters and teachers exactly this question in the beginning. I said, “You have no idea how hard it is to give a reading. I’m sweating here and I’m nervous and I feel like I’m standing on a jumping board above a pool. You’re asking me to jump in and I don’t know what temperature the water will be.” And they said, “No, my child. You don’t know if there’s water in the pool or not and that’s why you’re afraid. If you jump, you will realize that you will fly and you will not hit the pool ever or the water or the ground.” That helped me to just realize: just jump.

I think people get into their own way because they’re making the coaching session about themselves. When you work with someone else, you have to let go of being praised or that people might say, “Oh, she’s so wonderful and she’s so good and she really helped me.” You’re just a channel. I am the connecting link between the client and the Akashic Records. You are that connecting link and you have to direct your energy upwards to the Akashic Record and to the energy of the client and recognize that you are not the most important part in this conversation.

That’s the other part that really helps me to get out of my way and just be there for the client. Listen and trust that whatever information will come through will help them on a really deep level.

You have to be authentic, but you also have to be grounded and have your energy up to a higher realm. Because if you’re only authentic, it can come across like you’re putting yourself down or you’re not able to hold the energy for your clients. Be authentic in the way of telling them, “Hey, I have problems too,” but you also want to present them with a solution. You want to be able to raise your authenticity. Show that you walk the talk and not just talk.
